Role Overview

The Rectification Controller for the B Shift operates under the supervision of the Forward Maintenance Manager and functions as a proficient maintenance technician responsible for a diverse set of task assignments, including prioritizing and assigning manpower. This role demands a deep knowledge of Typhoon aircraft systems and the processes involved in reporting maintenance activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee team members directly reporting to you, ensuring efficient task management.
• Ensure all maintenance efforts are properly documented, with airworthiness records maintained accurately within appropriate systems.
• Manage Rectifications Control duties such as maintaining and updating the ESS State Board, estimating and forecasting aircraft recovery timelines.
• Provide briefings on aircraft limitations to authorized squadron pilots.
• Carry out and complete assigned maintenance and diagnostic tasks on aircraft or components, which might include ground handling, flight service, role changes, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and functional or system tests as appropriate.
• Supervise your team to guarantee maintenance is completed per schedule, escalate issues when necessary, and report any effects on overarching programs.
• Adapt a flexible and proactive approach towards executing role-related responsibilities and respond well to guidance.
• Verify that staff members possess the required competencies and approvals for their maintenance duties.
• Maintain current authorization for yourself and your team to perform work on aircraft or components in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Be accountable for achieving short- to medium-term delivery goals through effective team supervision.
• Perform auxiliary support tasks within aircraft or component maintenance facilities to maintain compliance with the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
• Provide leadership and development support to team members using formal evaluation methods and demonstrate effective communication and people management skills to convey complex information clearly.
• Conduct fault assessments and create additional work cards for faults discovered during maintenance activities.
• Exhibit capability in independently planning and conducting critical inspections.
• Consistently meet tactical delivery targets by managing personnel effectively.

Key Accountabilities

• Set and monitor regulatory activity performance indicators by establishing delivery goals, tracking progress, and implementing improvement programs. Prioritize activities to optimize efficiency and evaluate escalated issues for impact on airworthiness, escalating them appropriately.
• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory frameworks, associated procedures, standards, and internal company protocols, suggesting improvements when necessary.
• Guarantee that all Part 145 maintenance activities are properly documented, performed by qualified and authorized personnel, and integrated within business processes while engaging all relevant stakeholders.
• Support application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management, and Safety Assurance principles within the team; facilitate hazard analysis, mitigation, and management proactively.
• Maintain compliance with the Regulatory Governance and Assurance framework, support audits and process confirmations, manage audit responses, and implement improvements to address any non-compliance.
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of continuing airworthiness regulations and ensure their application; drive implementation of any regulatory changes affecting maintenance activities. Adhere to all other statutory requirements such as ITAR, EaPW, ISO.
• Comply fully with all contract terms and conditions applicable to the maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds 2675 or 2661) or equivalent, ideally specializing in Aeronautical Engineering, or an accredited Engineering Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionics, or other relevant fields linked to aircraft maintenance and airworthiness.
• At least 2 years’ supervisory experience prior to taking on this role.
• Proven experience delivering on-the-job training and instructional techniques.
• A minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience applying aviation safety standards and operational maintenance practices; at least 2 years in aircraft maintenance component operations.
• Maintain detailed logbooks demonstrating a wide range of skills, knowledge, and authorizations related to aircraft or bay work, including at least 6 months’ recent experience working on the Typhoon aircraft within the last 2 years.
• Strong understanding of Acceptable Means of Compliance and management training relevant to Typhoon Avionic or Mechanical Trade Q Course or its equivalent.
• Completed Human Factors standard course, E&PW standard course, and ITAR awareness standard course.
• Competent IT literacy skills.
