Airworthiness Review Lead

Overview

The Airworthiness Review Lead is tasked with maintaining the validity of the aircraft airworthiness certificate by overseeing the entire airworthiness review process. This includes managing a comprehensive, documented review of the aircraft's records and conducting a physical survey to verify that the aircraft remains within controlled parameters since delivery or the last review. The role involves strategic and tactical planning to optimize the operational efficiency of the QEAF Typhoon fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the production, issuance, and scheduling of the QEAF Typhoon Airworthiness Review Certificates (ARC) to ensure compliance with QEAFAR requirements through detailed reviews of aircraft and associated records.
• Oversee the identification, documentation, communication, and resolution of discrepancies uncovered during airworthiness reviews, ensuring timely follow-up and escalation where necessary with appropriate solutions.
• Strategically manage maintenance and airworthiness review scheduling to avoid conflicts with aircraft detachments and unavailability, maximizing fleet operational readiness and identifying fleet-wide risks.
• Coordinate with stakeholders at a tactical level to prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure clear communication of ARC priorities and findings.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within CAMSS to enhance processes and policies, mitigating risks to continuing airworthiness.
• Lead and manage safety investigations concerning risks to continuing airworthiness, identifying root causes, contributing factors, and recommending measures to reduce risks to ALARP levels.

Accountabilities

• Ensure continuing airworthiness review activities meet QEAFAR regulations and CAME standards through effective scheduling, trend monitoring, and continuous improvement programs prioritizing ARC activities to enhance fleet availability.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate policies and procedures governing airworthiness review requirements, ensuring strict adherence to standards.
• Implement Safety Management System principles including Human Factors, Error and Risk Management, and Safety Assurance throughout ARC processes, with proactive hazard detection and risk mitigation especially when immediate flight safety risks arise.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory and assurance frameworks via audits, process confirmations, and timely resolution of findings, supporting implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge and application of continuing airworthiness regulatory frameworks and support integration of regulatory changes and compliance with ITAR, EaPW, and ISO standards.
• Lead contractual compliance efforts related to regulatory obligations, ensuring changes are effectively communicated and integrated into continuing airworthiness activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical management discipline or equivalent qualification.
• Formal aeronautical maintenance training certification.
• Recent hands-on auditing experience within a continuing airworthiness controlled environment.
• Minimum five years of engineering management experience within Maintenance & Support, including substantial involvement in managing and maintaining continuing airworthiness.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with continuing airworthiness (CAw) processes and methodologies.
• Strong project management and analytical abilities, including experience with lean management principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities lending credibility and effectiveness in stakeholder engagement.
• Good familiarity with standard aircraft maintenance systems and fast Mil Air practices.
• Capability to analyze and interpret complex data and aircraft records comprehensively.
• Understanding of project management techniques applicable to complex aviation environments.
• Completion of Human Factors standard course, SMS A & B, E&PW awareness, and ITAR awareness certifications.
• Proficient IT literacy skills.
