Job description
Position Overview
Join Compass Group Canada as a Day Cleaner responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in various facilities. The position covers tasks such as cleaning hard floors, removal of garbage, and reaching high surfaces by ladder or scaffolding.
Key Duties
- Dry mop, wet mop, wash, scrub, and polish hard surface floors using manual or powered buffing machines; automated equipment may be used in large areas.
- Strip and finish hard floors either manually or with power tools as necessary.
- Collect and transport garbage from designated points to bins or compactors; operate and maintain compactors when assigned.
- Transport maintenance machinery across floors and sites as required.
- Clean glass surfaces that require ladders, scaffolding, or other equipment to access.
- Clean washroom floors including washing, stripping, and finishing tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness of stairwells and elevator cabs requiring ladder access.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
- Optionally wash walls, ceilings, dust light fixtures and ceiling fans, handle carpet pile lifting, shampoo carpets, and use carpet extraction equipment, depending on site needs.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Participate in all mandatory health and safety training sessions.
- Adhere to safe work guidelines and assist in preventing workplace hazards.
- Comply fully with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate equipment only after receiving proper training.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed.
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, and workplace injuries promptly.
- Engage in the organization's early and safe return to work procedures if applicable.
Additional Information and Benefits
- Hourly wage of $17.60 to $17.80, adjusted based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal parity.
