Custodian

Job Purpose and Impact

You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of buildings by performing intensive cleaning tasks such as floor cleaning, carpet shampooing, wall and glass washing, and proper waste disposal.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and discard waste according to established procedures and infection control protocols.
• Dust and damp mop floors following approved guidelines.
• Move furniture and equipment to enable thorough cleaning and restore them to their designated places.
• Use assigned cleaning materials and tools to sanitize all surfaces in designated areas.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other fixtures to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Proactively identify areas that need cleaning and complete tasks without prompting.
• Carry out assignments given by supervisors promptly and efficiently.
• Perform floor maintenance including stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing, and carpet shampooing.

Candidate Profile

• Prior experience in housekeeping or custodial roles is beneficial.
• Certifications such as WHMIS and BSW are considered assets.
• Good verbal and written proficiency in English.
• Ability to comprehend and execute both written and verbal instructions.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Possess the physical capability to fulfill all job requirements.
