Role Overview
This role involves developing and maintaining data models using modern database and data warehousing technologies, focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, create, and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Implement and optimize data solutions leveraging BigQuery with adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data owners, application designers, and data architects to model existing and new data platforms.
- Write and interpret complex SQL queries to analyze and extract insights from data.
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and governance standards especially in GCP environments.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong background in database management systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in data modelling techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with modern data sources and platforms, including NoSQL, data lakes, and cloud services.
- Proficient in handling various data formats such as XML, JSON, CSV, and databases.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex data challenges.
- Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Additional Advantages
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance practices.
- Relevant certifications in data architecture or database management are considered beneficial.
- Over 6 years of professional experience in IT, specializing in data modelling techniques.
