Job description
Overview
Zone IT Solutions is seeking an Ab Initio Developer with extensive expertise in database and data engineering, particularly skilled in SQL and cloud data migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Modernize existing SQL Server databases by migrating them to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Analyze and transform SSIS ETL workflows into AWS Glue jobs and orchestrations.
- Transition SSAS analytical models and workloads to Amazon Redshift.
- Redevelop SSRS reports and dashboards utilizing AWS QuickSight for enhanced visualization.
- Architect and implement scalable solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and reporting.
- Design and optimize data models, schemas, and ensure high database performance.
- Develop and upkeep CI/CD workflows for deploying databases and data pipelines efficiently.
- Integrate data quality controls, monitoring, and operational support mechanisms.
- Work closely with architects, developers, business users, and reporting teams to achieve smooth migration and implementation.
- Assist with testing, data validation, cutover planning, and post-deployment support activities.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in database and data engineering domains.
- Strong command of SQL and performance tuning techniques.
- Proficient with AWS data services including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, AWS QuickSight; knowledge of AWS DMS and Schema Conversion Tool is advantageous.
- Experienced in programming with Python and/or PySpark.
- Competent in building ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-native data platforms.
- Familiar with Git version control, CI/CD methodologies, DevOps principles, and Agile project delivery.
- Well-versed in data governance, security standards, and operational support practices.
