Data Modeler

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler based in Sydney to lead data modeling initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in data modeling tools and cloud platforms, particularly Azure. This role requires a solid understanding of enterprise data architectures and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive data models for various projects.
• Create and manage Logical Data Models, Physical Data Models, and Dimension Models, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with business analysts, data engineers, and developers to gather and refine requirements and analytic use cases.
• Communicate clearly with diverse teams to support data modeling and analytics objectives.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven track record in data modeling roles with significant IT industry experience.
• Hands-on experience using Erwin as a data modeling tool.
• Strong familiarity with Azure or similar cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of data warehousing methodologies such as Data Vault, 3rd Normal Form, and Kimball.
• Experience working with industry reference data models like Teradata-FSLDM, IBM financial or utilities models, or similar.
• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise modern data architecture concepts and best practices.
• Knowledge of data management principles including data modeling and naming standards.
• Understanding of data ingestion, consumption, access authorization, and ETL design frameworks.
• Ability to communicate requirements and complex concepts clearly both verbally and in writing.
