About the Role
This opportunity is for a Data Architect position with Australian Payments Plus, located in Sydney, NSW. As part of a unified team driven by core values of leadership, continuous learning, and leaving a legacy, you will contribute to advancing the payments ecosystem in Australia through effective data architecture design, governance, and utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine Australian Payments Plus’s data architecture by creating secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions aligned with enterprise strategies and evolving business requirements.
- Lead the architecture and data design efforts on complex initiatives, converting business needs and information requirements into clear conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Implement and uphold data architecture standards and governance practices emphasizing security, privacy, data quality, and consistent architectural principles across solutions.
- Provide expert technical leadership to inform decisions related to data modeling, integration, platform design, and manage risk trade-offs.
- Support modern data platform evolution to facilitate advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and innovative data products.
- Establish strong collaboration with business and technology teams to simplify complex data concepts, aid architecture decision-making, and identify data value enhancement opportunities.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Extensive background in Data Architecture, preferably with at least seven years of experience, ideally within payments, banking, or financial services sectors.
- Proven ability designing enterprise data platforms leveraging AWS and Snowflake, enabling advanced analytics and AI-enabled data products.
- Advanced skills in data modelling and solution design to interpret and translate complex and sometimes vague requirements into comprehensive data architectures.
- Solid technical know-how of modern data ecosystem tools and practices, including SQL, ETL processes, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, Snowflake, and familiarity with analytics and visualization platforms like Power BI and machine learning analytics.
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing capabilities in architecture, including evaluating complex design choices, managing associated risks, and providing specialized guidance to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience in data science, information systems, computer science, engineering, or related fields; certifications in architecture or data management would be an advantage.
