Role Overview

The Consulting Systems Engineer/Architect - AI Networking will provide exceptional technical support and customized solutions for Australian clients, focusing primarily on AI and High Performance Networking technologies. The role supports some of WWT’s largest enterprise customers across Australia and New Zealand by engaging in technical pre-sales engineering, delivering tailored IT infrastructure solutions, and establishing strong client and vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical pre-sales efforts by understanding client challenges and proposing tailored solutions leveraging AI and high-performance networking technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients and sales teams to understand technical priorities and translate them into effective IT infrastructure architectures.
  • Ensure high-quality pre-sales solution deliverables across AI and high-performance networking domains.
  • Participate actively in requirements gathering and scoping workshops, advising customers on network architecture for AI and HPC environments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic OEMs such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Arista, as well as local service partners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customer engineering teams by providing guidance on architecture, data center feasibility including power, cooling, cabling, and layout for AI/HPC clusters.
  • Develop and sustain robust relationships with customer technical leadership and teams.
  • Identify service opportunities and collaborate with internal teams to propose comprehensive technology solutions from the WWT portfolio.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in technology integrators, OEMs, or senior client-side roles.
  • Proven architectural and technical knowledge of Compute, Storage, Infrastructure, Data Centers, and End User Experience solutions.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in AI infrastructure domains and deep understanding of current trends and migration strategies.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CCDE, CCIE, CISSP, MCSE, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Consulting experience with Fortune 500 IT leadership, particularly in digital transformation and operating model design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF and UAM.
  • General knowledge of Big Data, AI automation, end-user experience, service management technologies, and cloud technologies including containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native services, storage, networking, and commercial models.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with a keen appreciation of the business impact of technology decisions.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about continual learning and technical knowledge growth.
  • Specific experience with NVIDIA and Cisco AI/HPC networking technologies and designing networks supporting over 1000 GPUs.
  • Understanding of data center fit-out requirements including cabling; HPC experience is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in engineering and solution architecture within enterprise environments.
