Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize secure and scalable AWS cloud infrastructure to support our growing platform.
• Enhance platform reliability, improve performance, and ensure smooth scalability as customer and device numbers increase.
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform), automation scripts, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows.
• Implement robust monitoring, observability solutions, and efficient incident response mechanisms.
• Facilitate multi-region cloud deployments and contribute to the architecture of our global platform.
• Analyze and optimize database performance and operational processes.
• Proactively investigate complex performance issues to preempt customer impact.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to deliver secure and scalable technological solutions.

Candidate Profile

You should be passionate about tackling challenging technical issues and eager to understand system internals deeply.

Essential Qualifications

• Hands-on experience managing and scaling AWS production environments.
• Strong competencies in DevOps and cloud engineering principles.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as ECS and EKS.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, ideally Terraform.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipeline creation and automation.
• Skilled in monitoring, alerting systems, and incident response strategies.
• Experience in database tuning and performance enhancement.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Node.js.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in distributed teams.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of IoT platforms and connected device ecosystems.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as MQTT, LTE-M, NB-IoT, or LoRa.
• Experience using monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience with multi-region cloud deployment strategies.
• Understanding of DevSecOps methodologies.
• Handling high-volume telemetry or time-series data workloads.

Working Hours and Location

This position is based onsite in Hamilton, New Zealand and requires flexibility to provide support during US business hours for the North American customer base. Compensation packages account for the additional hours and flexibility needed.
