Job description
Role Overview
Join a global fintech company achieving unicorn status as the leader of the Sydney-based Business Development Representative (BDR) team. This role entails directing an entirely outbound sales team responsible for sourcing opportunities across Australia, focusing on ecommerce and consumer brand financing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small BDR team covering all Australian markets from Sydney.
- Design and implement outbound sales strategies including client targeting, messaging development, sequencing, and selection of outreach channels.
- Oversee onboarding, training, and ramp-up processes for new BDR hires, actively participating in recruitment as the team expands.
- Maintain a weekly rhythm of pipeline reviews and sales activity tracking to ensure consistent performance and outcome delivery.
- Provide direct reporting to the Australian General Manager and maintain communication lines with global revenue leadership.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess between 2 to 4 years of experience successfully closing deals in fast-paced outbound environments targeting SMB or SME decision-makers.
- Demonstrated leadership or coaching experience within sales teams.
- Proven measurable success in sales metrics such as meeting targets, booking client meetings, creating pipeline, and shortening ramp-up times.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic setting with evolving processes, not relying on established structures.
- Residency in Sydney with availability for onsite work alongside the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in fintech, payments, lending, or ecommerce industries.
- Experience creating outbound sales playbooks from scratch.
- Exposure to organizations scaling through funding rounds.
Offer and Growth Prospects
The company has rapidly scaled from post-seed funding round to a unicorn valuation, with the Australian market still in early stages of penetration. There is a clear growth trajectory from this manager role into second-line leadership within 12 to 18 months as the team expands. This opportunity suits a capable senior sales professional eager to transition into leadership without requiring extensive prior management experience, with a focus on active involvement in sales activities.
