Job Overview
The Assistant Resident Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of assigned apartment buildings. This role involves maintaining cleanliness, handling administrative responsibilities, performing minor maintenance, and delivering excellent customer service to tenants.
Primary Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of the building's shared spaces by sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning glass and metal surfaces, treating carpet stains, and refreshing air quality.
- Support unit turnover by cleaning apartments after tenant move-outs, ensuring floors, bathrooms, windows, and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and units are ready for new tenants.
- Carry out outdoor seasonal duties such as raking leaves, tending flower beds, shoveling snow, salting walkways, and performing small repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Manage waste disposal by emptying garbage bins and cleaning the garbage area around dumpsters as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks including processing rental applications, leases, conducting move-in/out inspections, organizing the rental office, aiding rent collection and deposits, sending tenant notifications, managing emails, filing, and faxing.
- Help oversee apartment building administration by answering phones, tracking rental inquiries, and ensuring tenant satisfaction through quality service.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent, or three years’ relevant experience in cleaning.
- Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and email/internet usage.
- Knowledge of local policies, industry standards, municipal by-laws, and relevant provincial legislation (including the Residential Tenancy Act, Building and Fire Codes, and Occupational Health and Safety Act) is advantageous.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as the capability to bend, push, pull, and climb stairs.

This is a full-time position located in Owen Sound, Ontario. The schedule includes rotating shifts with weekend work and on-call availability required.
