Job Summary
This position involves semi-skilled maintenance tasks related to buildings and grounds, including repair and cleaning duties that may occur indoors or outdoors, sometimes in challenging conditions. The role does not require expert-level trade skills but demands manual labor and operation of equipment under supervision by a Production or Maintenance Supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to and exceed company safety standards, completing required safety and skills training.
- Perform semi-skilled building maintenance, such as repairing toilets, patching sheetrock, and replacing tiles.
- Conduct manual labor associated with building and grounds upkeep and repairs.
- Operate motorized equipment including trucks, automobiles, air compressors, forklifts, and scissor lifts when needed.
- Execute housekeeping and cleaning duties such as cleaning vents, screens, trash cans, and walkways.
- Replace various types of light bulbs, usually within a twelve-foot reach.
- Move furniture and equipment; occasionally transport and deliver supplies and light items.
- Participate in grounds maintenance tasks like trimming shrubs and attending flower beds.
- Inspect assigned work areas regularly to ensure maintenance standards.
- Perform occasional hand painting and minor repair or maintenance on groundskeeping equipment.
- Collect, weigh, and segregate metal scrap as necessary.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; prior manufacturing experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude are essential.
- Basic understanding of computer-controlled machinery.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a forklift license and operate forklifts and scissor lifts if applicable.
- Must be physically capable of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb ladders to rooftops occasionally.
- Visual acuity including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are needed.
- Ability to follow detailed but straightforward oral and written instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
Training and Certification
Periodic certifications may be required in hazardous waste management including DOT/Hazardous Waste every three years and RCRA training annually.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Work takes place near moving mechanical parts and in environments involving toxins, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles, vibrations, heat, and loud noise where hearing protection may be necessary.
