Role Overview

This full-time Building Maintenance position is based primarily in Calgary, Alberta with flexible remote work possibilities depending on task requirements. The individual in this role will conduct inspections, upkeep, and repairs on building structures, systems, and fixtures to maintain safety and performance standards. Routine responsibilities involve executing regular maintenance, addressing repair requests promptly, performing preventive inspections on plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical elements, and collaborating closely with supervisors and team members to prioritize maintenance activities. The position requires thorough documentation of maintenance work, compliance with safety protocols, and support for efficient facility operations across office and related properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections and preventive maintenance to sustain building integrity and function.
  • Respond timely to repair requests addressing plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical system issues.
  • Execute minor renovations and structural repairs using carpentry skills.
  • Maintain plumbing systems by troubleshooting leaks and performing necessary repairs.
  • Adhere strictly to building safety standards and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Utilize work orders, basic schematics, and maintenance manuals to guide repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and communicate progress with supervisors.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in building maintenance including routine inspections and preventive upkeep.
  • Well-versed in general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Capable with carpentry work related to structural repairs, fixtures, and minor renovations.
  • Competence in plumbing maintenance and troubleshooting water systems.
  • Understanding of building safety codes and occupational health protocols.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritization abilities.
  • Good communication skills and capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in building or facility maintenance preferable, especially in public sector or institutional environments.
  • Technical certification or relevant training in building maintenance or related trades is advantageous.
