Job description
Position Summary
The Asset Protection Associate is crucial in establishing and preserving a secure, safe, and professional retail environment for customers, employees, visitors, and vendors. This role enforces Asset Protection standards and exhibits professional conduct to prevent financial and physical losses, reduce shrinkage, and contribute to the store's profitability. Through vigilance, observation, and collaboration, the associate safeguards people, merchandise, and the overall shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily store patrols to maintain a safe and secure atmosphere, ensuring that doors, displays, and security systems are operational, taking necessary action as needed.
- Investigate instances of financial or physical shrinkage, reporting findings to Store Leadership. Escalate cases involving internal theft or organized retail crime to the Market Loss Prevention Manager per company protocols. Support investigations related to internal and external theft as well as Walmart Canada Global Ethics cases.
- Assist with store evacuation and emergency procedures during incidents like fire or other emergencies. Participate in team tasks that support store operations.
- Conduct external apprehensions when necessary, adhering to company policies and legal requirements.
- Communicate and report information from various sources clearly and effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
- Fulfill additional duties as required to align with evolving business needs and Asset Protection priorities.
- Adapt to varied working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure smooth store operations and consistent customer service.
Challenges
- Manage a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts while maintaining energy and focus.
- Handle physical demands such as prolonged standing, bending, lifting items up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs, as well as repetitive tasks like stocking and organizing products with attention to detail.

Compensation
The starting wage for this role is $20.00 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Possession of a valid Security Guard License is required.
