Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced API Test Engineer based in Hyderabad. Candidates willing to relocate are also welcome. The role demands validation and assurance of API quality, reliability, and performance through designing and executing functional and automated tests. The tenure sought ranges from 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft and perform API test cases for REST and SOAP services covering functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
- Verify API responses including status codes, headers, and payloads.
- Automate API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Karate.
- Collaborate with development and product teams to understand API specifications.
- Log, track, and manage defect reports using tools like JIRA.
- Ensure data consistency across API services and underlying databases.
- Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct security and authentication testing including OAuth and JWT.
- Maintain test documentation and reporting.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of API testing principles and methodologies.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and XML data formats.
- Hands-on proficiency with testing tools including Postman, SOAP UI, RestAssured, Karate, or Newman.
- Familiarity with HTTP methods like GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, and PATCH.
- Competency in API automation frameworks.
- Understanding of HTTP status codes and API validation techniques.
- Basic querying skills with relational databases (SQL).
- Experience using version control (Git), and CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
Desirable Skills
- Programming experience in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge in performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Understanding of microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to behavior-driven development (BDD) frameworks, e.g., Cucumber.
