Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Yard Shunter to join a reputable commercial vehicle operator based in Beech, England. This full-time position offers a salary range of £35,000 to £40,000 annually and involves managing vehicle movements across a large 15-acre site and multiple local yards. The primary responsibility is to ensure efficient parking, vehicle positioning, and yard safety while supporting logistics operations.
Key Duties
- Shunting commercial vehicles between onsite and nearby yards within the 15-acre facility.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and secure yard environment.
- Parking and positioning vehicles effectively to optimize space and operations.
- Conducting regular vehicle inspections including monitoring fuel levels and overall condition.
- Preparing commercial units accurately for delivery requirements.
- Keeping detailed and precise records of all vehicle and trailer movements on site.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold a valid Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) license.
- Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and performing shunting or yard logistics duties is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of vehicle handling and yard operational protocols.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely under pressure while maintaining a high attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with site supervisors and colleagues.
- Possessing forklift or crane operating licenses is an added advantage but not mandatory.
