Washer/Presser (Laundry)

Position Overview

This role involves managing and operating laundry equipment such as washers, dry cleaning machines, and dryers. Responsibilities include adding appropriate chemicals, cleaning lint traps, inspecting items for stains or damages to determine if repairs or re-washing are necessary, and ensuring the cleanliness of laundered articles before placing them into clean linen carts.

Key Duties

• Operate washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery with attention to fabric-specific cycles.
• Set dryers correctly according to fabric types and load sizes.
• Clean lint traps, dryer screens, filters, and drain traps after every load.
• Fold laundered items by hand or using folding equipment into specified sizes.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all items processed through the laundry.
• Conduct visual inspections to check for defects or damage on tools and machines.
• Physically handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds and navigate various work environments including confined, elevated, or uneven surfaces.
• Adhere strictly to company safety and security protocols; report any accidents or unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain professionalism through clean appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve shared objectives and respond constructively to team concerns.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost savings.
• Carry out other assigned duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Educational background not mandatory; no high school diploma or GED required.
• No prior relevant work or supervisory experience needed.
• No licenses or certifications required.
