About the Role
Join ALS Metallurgy as a Warehouse Officer in Balcatta, where you will contribute to efficient sample management within a globally recognized scientific testing company focused on data-driven insights for a healthier future. This permanent, full-time position reports directly to the Site Manager and involves overseeing sample storage and managing warehouse operations with strict adherence to company and client standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of sample storage tasks including submissions, retrievals, packaging, location assignments, disposal, and client returns.
- Operate forklifts (gas, electric, reach-truck) to safely load and unload pallets and samples.
- Package and repackage samples ensuring proper labeling, securing, and preparation for storage or dispatch.
- Maintain precise data entry using SIM/LIMS, EMS, and Excel systems.
- Conduct regular inventories of samples to maintain up-to-date records.
- Collaborate effectively with the Metallurgy team regarding storage needs.
- Engage professionally with clients when necessary, including the preparation of quotations and monthly invoices for storage, disposal, and return-to-client services.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment.
- Manage daily operations efficiently to ensure safety, accuracy, and on-time task completion.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a current forklift license for gas and/or electric forklifts, with reach truck experience considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or sample handling roles.
- Good physical fitness for manual handling tasks including sample packaging and repackaging.
- Strong attention to detail and adept data entry skills.
- Experience with inventory/laboratory management software like SIM or EMS and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities, capable of prioritizing competing responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external clients.
- Experience with preparing quotations and invoices is desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, neat, and orderly workplace environment.
- Understanding of HSEQ management systems and adherence to ALS policies and procedures.
