About the Role
Join ALS Food & Pharmaceutical Division at our modern Rydalmere laboratory as a Laboratory Technician within the Microbiology team. Our mission is to surpass customer expectations by delivering accurate and timely quality results while fostering strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing on food, pharmaceutical, and water samples including preparation and analysis.
- Execute extraction procedures in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions, adhering strictly to QA/QC standards.
- Efficiently plan daily workflows to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
- Notify supervisors promptly about any irregularities in test results or specimens.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date laboratory records and documentation.
- Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support laboratory investigations and contribute to reporting activities.
- Ensure cleanliness of the laboratory, calibrate equipment regularly, and perform necessary analytical calculations.
- Manage inventory of consumables and assist with secondary responsibilities as needed.
- Operate calibrated instruments following established ALS quality protocols.
- Comply with ALS Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, state occupational health and safety regulations, and safety manuals.
- Champion laboratory safety, report any compliance concerns, and cultivate a safety-conscious work environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess tertiary qualifications such as a degree or diploma in science, preferably microbiology.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail.
- Have sound foundational knowledge of chemistry.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Skilled in planning and organizing workload effectively.
- Apply sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Maintain a proactive attitude toward adhering to safety procedures.
- Meet required aptitude standards for allocated testing tasks.
- Physically capable to stand and move around the laboratory and lift or carry up to 15 kilograms.

Additional Information
This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday, from 10:45 AM to 7:00 PM, with possible overtime as needed.
