Job description
Overview
The role of a Vertical Machining Center (VMC) Operator involves the precise setup, operation, and supervision of VMC machines to manufacture components exactly as per engineering specifications and quality standards. The operator is also tasked with ensuring smooth machine functionality, conducting quality inspections, and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Duties
- Configure and run VMC machines according to production demands.
- Handle loading and unloading of raw inputs and finished products.
- Interpret engineering blueprints, process documentation, and operational instructions accurately.
- Conduct tool setup, make tool offsets, and perform elementary calibration of equipment.
- Supervise the machining process and adjust parameters to maintain output quality.
- Inspect components using precision measuring tools including vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Carry out routine cleaning and preventive upkeep of machinery.
- Notify supervisors about any equipment malfunctions or quality control concerns.
- Ensure correct use and maintenance of tools, fixtures, and measurement devices.
- Adhere strictly to 5S methodology as well as safety and quality policies outlined by the company.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have between 1 to 5 years working with VMC machines in a manufacturing setting, with a preference for those experienced in precision component machining.
