Role Overview

We are seeking a Level 3 Vehicle Service Technician to join the St Helens Vauxhall workshop team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves performing vehicle health assessments using cutting-edge technology, servicing vehicles, and carrying out additional repairs as needed, all while working alongside skilled technicians and apprentices.

You will report to an experienced Aftersales Manager who will provide ongoing support and ensure you have the necessary tools to excel. We also offer career advancement opportunities and manufacturer-accredited training programs, including courses on Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems.

Our Vehicle Technicians are key contributors to delivering exceptional customer service at every interaction. We encourage qualified Vehicle Technicians or experienced Mechanics from dealer groups or independent garages to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-delivery inspections on both new and used vehicles
• Perform checks adhering strictly to manufacturer guidelines
• Install additional accessories requested by customers
• Carry out vehicle health checks and report any further required work
• Inspect lights, tyre pressures, mechanical and electrical components
• Complete minor repairs on vehicles
• Understand and execute basic diagnoses on mechanical and electrical issues
• Perform vehicle servicing in line with manufacturer directions and customer specifications
• Execute additional repairs after customer authorization
• Complete warranty repairs following manufacturer protocols with proper documentation
• Conduct road tests to confirm all faults have been addressed
• Maintain thorough and accurate paperwork

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will hold at least an NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent qualification. Experience in the motor industry, whether brand or non-brand related, is required along with a valid UK driving licence. Candidates should be self-driven, team-oriented, ambitious, eager to learn, and committed to upholding high vehicle standards.

Brand-specific experience is preferable but not mandatory as training is provided. Experience with diagnostics, MOT, and electric vehicles is advantageous but not essential.

Work Schedule and Salary

Work hours total 40 per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, plus one Saturday morning every third week.

Salary ranges from £28,000 to £43,000 basic depending on experience, with an on-target earning potential up to £52,480, including a £3,000 Productivity Bonus and additional Time Saved Bonus Scheme.
