About the Role

USIC is seeking motivated outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy independent fieldwork to join their team as Utility Locators in Naperville, IL. As a recognized leader in underground utility damage prevention, USIC specializes in advanced infrastructure services, performing more than 84 million utility locates annually for telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer services across the U.S. The company emphasizes quality, safety, and innovation in protecting critical infrastructure and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate, safe, and efficient location of underground utilities including telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Conduct thorough searches in assigned areas to identify underground utilities, mark their positions clearly, complete related documentation, and document each locate with photographs.

Working Conditions and Schedule

These full-time, daytime positions may require working days following holidays and occasional weekends to meet a 48-hour turnaround on many locates. Overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, are expected depending on business needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; prior outdoor experience beneficial.
• Technologically proficient to utilize advanced ticket and claims management systems.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and be on-call as required.
• Successful completion of a drug screening test, as the position is safety-sensitive.
• Valid driver’s license along with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work in confined spaces; capable of walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 75 lbs.
• Color vision sufficient to distinguish utility wiring markings.
• Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, contractors, and property owners.
