About the Role

USIC is seeking dedicated Utility Locators to join our team in Mesa, AZ. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and safely locate underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Conduct a thorough search of assigned areas to identify utility locations, precisely mark them, complete related documentation, and photograph each locate.
  • Operate independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle and advanced technology for ticket and claims management.
  • Work daytime hours with potential overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call duties including nights, adhering to a 48-hour turnaround on many locates.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Comfort and willingness to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions; previous outdoor work experience is beneficial.
  • Technological proficiency to handle work equipment effectively.
  • Availability to work additional hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as business needs dictate.
  • Pass a drug screening test, as this position requires safety compliance.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Physically capable to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to differentiate colors used for marking wiring and utilities.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and prints.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
