Job Overview

The Utility Locate Technician position based in Renton, Washington, plays a critical role in supporting safe and reliable utility systems. Technicians ensure the protection of underground gas, electric, and communication lines by accurately marking utilities to prevent damage during excavation activities. The role utilizes advanced technology, including the LaunchPoint software system, to enhance work efficiency.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wage ranges from $25.50 to $32.00, depending on experience.
• A company vehicle, fuel card, and cell phone are provided and may be taken home daily, allowing direct travel to job sites from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate independently in outdoor settings, using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office to complete assigned locate routes daily.
• Locate and mark underground utilities with precision and adherence to safety guidelines using paint, flags, or whiskers.
• Utilize mobile work systems to receive and manage daily tasks efficiently.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment screening including drug testing, Motor Vehicle Record check, and background check; comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations as this is a safety-sensitive DOT position, with prohibition of marijuana use.
• Possession of a high school diploma or GED, and be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid passport or an enhanced driver’s license to allow occasional work-related travel across the Canadian border.
