Job Overview

The Urology Consultant is entrusted with comprehensive clinical responsibilities aligned with assigned privileges, focusing on thorough patient evaluation and documented care planning. The role requires evidence-based management, inpatient oversight, and timely documentation to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties according to designated clinical privileges.
• Conduct detailed assessments encompassing clinical, socioeconomic, psychological, and functional aspects, documenting findings in medical records.
• Create patient care plans using evidence-based standards, and record them accurately.
• Ensure the care plans devised are executed promptly and effectively.
• Serve as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for admitted inpatients under own name.
• Formulate discharge plans on admission day and liaise with discharge-planning services early when necessary.
• Assess inpatients daily, documenting evaluations and updated care plans using the SOAP note format.
• Provide prompt responses to medical consultation requests.
• Document clinical interventions performed on patients without delay.
• Adhere strictly to organizational standards for medical record documentation.
• Complete and authenticate discharge summaries promptly, including patient education on discharge instructions and medication.
• Fulfill duties within the healthcare facility and respond to on-call schedules as per departmental requirements.
• Participate actively in departmental and general staff meetings, contributing to service improvement strategies.
• Prepare medical reports for patients in a timely manner conforming to institutional format.
• Engage in teaching rounds and educational activities as requested by department chairpersons.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding health conditions, treatments, and prevention.
• Undertake additional responsibilities that fall within the scope of the role.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Effective communication skills with patients, their families, physicians, and non-medical personnel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational capabilities and ability to maintain performance under stressful conditions.

Experience and Education

• Completion of specialty training and required clinical experience as determined by the regional health regulatory authority, in accredited medical institutions.
• Attainment of the highest clinical degree within the specialty from recognized centers.

Language Proficiency

Fluent in both oral and written English and Arabic.

Certifications and Licensing

• Possession of medical practice license issued by the regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS, DHA).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certification as applicable.
