Job Overview

The Registered Nurse role focuses on delivering superior nursing care based on strong evidence-based methods to patients within a clinical environment. This entails evaluating patient health, formulating and executing personalized nursing care plans, and managing medical documentation. Collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams is essential to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing patient health assessments, including physical exams, vital sign measurements, and symptom evaluations.
• Create, update, and implement individualized patient care plans in conjunction with healthcare colleagues.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitoring for any adverse effects or reactions.
• Deliver wound care by cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for infection indicators.
• Support physicians and healthcare workers during medical procedures and diagnostic testing.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, therapies, and preventative healthcare.
• Monitor and document patient status changes and promptly report critical updates to the medical team.
• Respond swiftly to medical emergencies, providing immediate care as required.
• Conduct routine patient rounds to ensure needs are met and prevent complications.
• Uphold stringent infection control practices including hand hygiene, PPE use, and proper biohazard handling, and engage in surveillance and reporting to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
• Maintain hygiene standards for patient items and clinical equipment following organizational policies.
• Follow protocols for emergency situations such as code responses and rapid response teams to ensure patient safety.
• Innovate and apply evidence-based interventions to improve patient care outcomes.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Keep thorough and accurate records of patient care activities, observations, interventions, and reactions.
• Ensure clear, effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate seamless care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to guarantee integrated and continuous patient care.

Supportive Duties

• Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and families during challenging times.
• Advocate for patient rights, preferences, and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds within care planning.
• Guide and mentor junior staff and nursing students, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Engage in professional development activities to keep up with medical advances and nursing education.
• Work closely with physicians, therapists, and social workers to deliver comprehensive healthcare.
• Identify challenges in patient care and actively contribute to improvements and solutions.
• Perform any other nursing duties assigned by the nursing manager within the role's scope.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess clerical skills including preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes.
• At least one year of clinical nursing experience; recent graduates may participate in an RN residency program.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
• Demonstrate excellent command of English; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
• Valid nursing license from home country and regional health authority certification (e.g., SCFHS, DHA), as well as certifications in BLS, ACLS and applicable life support courses.
