Operating Room Nurse Manager

Position Overview

This role oversees daily patient care activities, leads and supports nursing staff, and reports to the Unit Director to ensure exemplary patient care and support organizational goals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and allocate nursing staff effectively, ensuring appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios based on acuity and expertise.
• Manage nursing personnel including recruitment, training, performance reviews, and career development mentoring.
• Monitor adherence to nursing policies and protocols to guarantee the highest patient care standards.
• Evaluate patient care outcomes, identifying improvement opportunities and executing corrective measures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop patient care plans and address patient and family concerns ensuring satisfaction and safety.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatments, and prevention methods.
• Oversee operational aspects of the nursing unit, managing staffing, patient flow, resources, and compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Identify and mitigate patient safety risks through education and safety checks, analyze care data, lead quality improvement initiatives, and handle root cause analyses.
• Organize crisis response drills and lead emergency management, including policy development for disaster preparedness and resource availability.
• Enhance patient experience by responding to feedback, ensuring effective communication, and advocating for patient rights.
• Lead the creation and regular revision of nursing policies aligned with evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance.
• Manage budget, staffing schedules, inventory of medical supplies, and resource allocation to optimize care and efficiency.
• Assess educational needs, oversee orientation, preceptorship programs, ongoing training, and maintain training records for nursing staff.
• Resolve staffing and operational issues with effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Participate in nursing research and integrate innovative evidence-based practices into care.
• Facilitate clear communication within nursing teams and between departments; represent nursing staff in leadership meetings and implement committee recommendations.
• Promote adherence to organizational values, continuous improvement, safety protocols, confidentiality, cybersecurity, and ethical standards.

Experience and Education

• 5 to 7 years of hospital nursing experience, including demonstrated leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree and certifications in Leadership, Quality Improvement, or Patient Safety preferred.

Languages and Certifications

• Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
• Valid nursing license from country of origin and regional health authority (e.g., SCFHS, DHA).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and other relevant life support training courses.
