Overview
FMG (Farmers Mutual Group) invites experienced insurance professionals to join their Underwriting Team as a Technical Underwriter in Palmerston North, New Zealand. This role involves providing expert technical underwriting guidance, supporting quality business acceptance, and participating in initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiencies and enhancing client solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with experienced underwriters to develop tailored insurance products including co-insurance arrangements; engage directly with quota share agreements; manage underwriting capacity and retention autonomously; and handle facultative reinsurance placement from within the underwriting team, thereby gaining comprehensive insight into the full insurance lifecycle.
Candidate Profile
- At least five years of proven experience in commercial insurance or underwriting.
- Current ANZIIF qualification or actively working towards obtaining it.
- Deep understanding of commercial insurance principles including pricing strategies and market behavior.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and foster strong internal relationships.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities paired with a pragmatic approach.
- Experience in diverse non-consumer insurance sectors such as SME, corporate, or specialty lines is highly advantageous.
