About the Role
Join the Ministry for Primary Industries in Hamilton as a Travelling Technical Supervisor—a full-time, permanent position offering a salary between $94,641 and $117,976 depending on your expertise. Located in the vibrant Waikato region, renowned for its natural landscapes including underground caves, black sand beaches, and picturesque hills, this role offers a unique blend of technical work and travel.
As a Travelling Technical Supervisor, you will carry out official verification activities following current legislation and Overseas Market Access requirements, enabling issuance of export assurances for animal products such as meat, dairy, seafood, and poultry. This demanding role involves auditing diverse sectors within the animal products industry.
Responsibilities
- Authorizing animal product transfers by assessing eligibility documents to finalize export assurances.
- Inspecting incoming animal products slated for further processing to ensure compliance.
- Efficiently managing your schedule and workload in coordination with the team leader.
Comprehensive technical training will be provided to the successful applicant.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a science degree, preferably in Food Science or Food Technology.
- Have prior experience in the food industry with a solid understanding of HACCP principles.
- Familiarity with verification concepts, Good Manufacturing Practices, and quality assurance systems is essential.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A current full New Zealand driver’s license (not temporary or learner) or equivalent, including Class 1 vehicle authorization.
Team and Organizational Context
The position is based in Hamilton, working within the Waikato Bay of Plenty Circuit team under the Waikato Team Leader, situated in the Verification Services Directorate. MPI Verification Services conducts food safety verification and certification to support market access and standards.
