Transformation Design and Delivery - Associate Director

About the Role

Join the Transformation Design & Delivery (TDD) team at PwC New Zealand based in Auckland, where you will lead major, high-impact transformation initiatives across the country. This role offers an opportunity to move beyond traditional delivery responsibilities and engage in transformational leadership by collaborating closely with senior client stakeholders to guide programme direction, influence results, and oversee large-scale projects from conception through to execution.

You will not only manage delivery but also shape the transformation practice by integrating strategy, delivery, and change management to create sustained and significant results for clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and govern substantial transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and long-term benefits.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, offering insights on programme strategy, status, and performance, while managing complex or challenged projects to ensure successful completion.
• Develop and lead organizational and technological change strategies that promote widespread adoption and measurable business outcomes.
• Contribute significantly to the growth and development of the TDD practice by mentoring staff, enhancing methodologies, and supporting market expansion and client engagement efforts.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, discovering growth opportunities and nurturing new and existing projects.
• Continuously improve team dynamics and ways of working by embracing adaptability, care, and a mindset of ongoing improvement.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience (typically at least 10 years) leading challenging transformation initiatives with proven business results.
• Solid, pragmatic expertise in multiple delivery methodologies including Portfolio, Programme & Project Management (3PM), PRINCE2, PMI/PMBOK, Agile frameworks such as SAFe, ICAgile, and Scrum, with the ability to implement these effectively in complex environments.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, to engage executives and shape programme strategy under complex conditions.
• Background in consulting or professional services, applying knowledge across diverse clients, industries, and transformation scenarios.
• Leadership qualities focused on talent development, fostering high-performing teams, and enhancing collaborative culture.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience in identifying business opportunities, supporting growth, and participating in business development efforts.
