Overview
Staffordshire County Council invites applications for a rewarding permanent position within the Traffic and Network Management Team. The role offers a chance to work collaboratively in an environment focused on enhancing various highways-related functions, promoting continuous development and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect activities on Staffordshire's highways, including parking permits, street works permits, highways licenses, and traffic regulation orders.
- Evaluate and minimize traffic disruption and congestion, ensuring safety, compliance, and smooth vehicular flow on the network.
- Collaborate closely with Officers, Administrators, and Coordination Managers to assess application impacts effectively.
- Exercise professional judgement to deliver advice, applying necessary controls or restrictions in line with Traffic Management Act 2004 and New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991 (NRSWA).
- Interpret and implement NRSWA Code of Practice for Inspections and the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in the Highway (SROH).
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, reporting to Traffic & Network Inspections Managers.
- Engage and communicate with a variety of internal teams, external companies, authorities, and stakeholders.
- Work towards rectifying defective works and apparatus on highways while aligning with departmental objectives.

- Strong interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a positive, proactive approach.
- Capable of managing multiple challenges and conflicting priorities under pressure while adhering to relevant legislation and deadlines.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Possess or be willing to obtain LANTRA 12D (M7) Supervisor accreditation.
- Proven experience as an NRSWA Supervisor.
- Background in traffic and network management roles.
- Familiarity with processing permits, licenses, and overseeing road works on public highways.
- Skilled in interpreting data and providing actionable recommendations.
- Valid full UK driving licence.
