The role requires providing a visible uniformed presence across town centres, parks, and public spaces, delivering excellent customer service while engaging with local residents. This position entails collaborating closely with community safety partners, law enforcement, and relevant teams to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour, serious violence, and support vulnerable groups.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a visible and approachable ‘Council Ambassador’ in public locations, responding to queries in person, by phone, email, or social media, and referring individuals to appropriate agencies where necessary.
  • Support the community safety partnership through intelligence-led patrols in hotspots to deter crime and provide reassurance to the public.
  • Issue Fixed Penalty Notices in line with district Public Spaces Protection Orders, ensuring accurate evidence collection and readiness to testify in court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with police, street pastors, CCTV teams, and other partners to manage the safety of the night-time economy.
  • Assist with the animal warden duties, including collecting stray dogs.
  • Record all incidents, intelligence, and patrol activities using council reporting systems.
  • Contribute actively to achieving the objectives of the South Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Maths.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience.
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new areas of work and systems.
  • Proficient in using technology, including Microsoft Office, web applications, and database systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across diverse groups and external partners.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities with a proven track record of problem solving and working independently or within a team.
  • Capability to remain calm and focused during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Possession of a full UK driving licence.
  • Commitment to personal learning and flexible approach to meet service demands.

Working Conditions and Additional Information
