Job description

Overview

The Unit Project Manager will lead and supervise the unit project managers and leaders to ensure successful delivery of projects aligned with the organization's vision and objectives. This role demands active oversight of contract management, resource allocation, issue resolution, project controls, reporting, communication, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the enforcement of contract management processes, ensuring proper contract reviews, summaries, risk identifications, and client satisfaction documentation.
  • Lead the unit in managing projects from order initiation to close-out, guaranteeing resource availability and process adherence.
  • Manage issues such as risks, claims, complaints, and lessons learned while driving continuous departmental improvements and root cause analyses.
  • Ensure project planning and control procedures are followed, address capacity prioritization and commitment challenges.
  • Prepare regular reports for geographic market and functional leadership, escalating issues as required.
  • Implement effective communication strategies including interface management and adherence to email distribution policies.
  • Approve project variations according to the authority matrix and ensure thorough record and document control.
  • Supervise invoicing, bond issuance, and dashboard data maintenance to monitor department performance via KPIs.
  • Conduct project close-out procedures and participate in audits as the department representative.
  • Evaluate and manage unit project management staff capacity, recruitment, appraisals, training, and vacation scheduling.
  • May directly manage projects when necessary and represent the unit externally with clients, auditors, and third parties.
  • Engage and comply with QHSE audits and promote workplace safety standards, including incident reporting and use of protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable.
  • MBA, BSc, or MSc in Managerial Economics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a project manager within Future Pipe Industries; exceptional candidates with 10+ years elsewhere considered.
  • Experience in team leadership, preferably with exposure to piping, mechanical, supply chain, company products, and processes.
  • Familiarity with contractual terms and conditions.

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluent English proficiency, both written and verbal; local language fluency preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; MS Project knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Analytical, structured, and conceptual thinker with hands-on, proactive, results-driven approach.
  • Negotiation capabilities.
