Position Overview

We seek a seasoned expert in end-to-end Dimensional Engineering through the full vehicle development cycle. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership, proactive problem-solving, and the capacity to drive results in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will lead dimensional engineering efforts through vehicle launches, collaborating across Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, and Supplier teams. Success depends on translating vehicle-level dimensional needs into robust product and process solutions that guarantee top-tier fit, finish, and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the establishment and integration of dimensional targets into product, tooling, and process designs.
• Confirm the efficacy of component and assembly locating strategies during launch to meet dimensional goals.
• Work alongside Manufacturing Engineering to create tooling concepts ensuring dimensional quality during development and production.
• Provide leadership on validating dimensional simulation models, particularly using 3DCS software.
• Collaborate intensively with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to define and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
• Optimize and validate GD&T schemes to meet or exceed program dimensional performance targets.
• Manage the creation and application of measurement and gaging plans for prototypes and production assemblies.
• Facilitate cross-functional reviews to identify dimensional risks and propel improvements in design, process, tooling, and manufacturing.
• Lead investigations into dimensional issues encountered during prototype builds, launches, and ongoing production to identify root causes and resolutions.
• Develop and standardize dimensional engineering methodologies, best practices, and procedures to enhance organizational capabilities.
• Mentor and coach dimensional engineers, designers, and manufacturing staff.
• Design and implement training programs in dimensional engineering for engineering and manufacturing departments.
• Support vehicle architecture by managing system and subsystem dimensional requirements through the product lifecycle.
• Report dimensional performance, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership and program management.
• Ensure dimensional engineering activities are successfully executed from initial concept through production ramp-up.

Required Skills and Expertise

• At least 8 years of professional experience in Dimensional Engineering or equivalent disciplines.
• Proven leadership in vehicle-level dimensional engineering projects for new product development, having contributed to five or more vehicle programs from concept through production launch.
• Extensive knowledge of automotive system and subsystem dimensional requirements.
• Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with practical application experience.
• Advanced skills using dimensional analysis tools including tolerance stack-up assessments and variation simulations with 3DCS software.
• Strong familiarity with automotive design, product development workflows, manufacturing methods, and assembly processes.
• Experienced in leading dimensional engineering teams within the automotive sector.
• Deep understanding of inspection techniques, metrology principles, and measurement systems.
• Proficient in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and structured problem-solving frameworks.
• Capability in driving cross-functional alignment among Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality, and Program Management to meet dimensional goals.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly employees accrue up to 120 hours of paid time off annually, salaried employees up to 160 hours.
