Role Overview
As a Senior Technical Services Manager reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead the execution of maintenance and operational excellence at a key data centre site. Collaborating closely with the Operations team, your role will include managing critical environment maintenance, overseeing a technical team, and coordinating with contractors and facilities providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure flawless site management targeting 100% uptime and strict adherence to customer SLAs and safety standards.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise preventative maintenance and repairs while ensuring compliance with change and incident management processes.
- Work with the development team to supervise construction projects, installations, and testing ensuring operational standards are met.
- Support customer power capacity management to maintain system limitations.
- Maintain and update site operating procedures, including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, as well as mandatory regulatory documentation such as risk assessments and environmental health and safety documents.
- Ensure compliance with accreditations like ISMS, SOC2, PCI, ISO9001, ISO14001 and meet local environmental, safety, and building regulations.
- Serve as the main operational point of contact and escalation during emergencies and daily site operations.
- Participate in commissioning activities including equipment witness testing and operational validation.
- Review operational documentation for new data centre capacities.
- Manage the provisioning of data centre services including connectivity, power, and deployments to customers.
- Lead minor capital projects for customer or internal needs.
- Direct maintenance and repair contractors and control OPEX budget.
- Track operational metrics, analyze risk, and conduct routine property inspections.
- Advocate for continuous operational improvements focusing on power utilization and cost efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience managing mechanical and electrical operations preferably within data centres, or related engineering/facility management sectors such as semiconductor or trades.
- Background in electrical or mechanical trades or relevant degree is preferred with strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure components including power, cooling, fire, and security systems.
- Thorough understanding of local statutory regulations pertaining to facilities operations.
- Skilled at creating and reviewing operational documents such as Method of Procedures, maintenance and incident reports, root cause analyses, budget forecasts/reports, and O&M manuals.
- Ability to interpret single line electrical diagrams.
- Experience in managing third-party service providers, setting performance metrics, negotiating service contracts, and pricing.
- Familiarity with tools/systems including Customer Portals, Building Management Systems (BMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and CAD software is an advantage.
- Proven leadership in coaching and directing small technical teams.
- Strong skills in managing key partner relationships and delivering effective presentations.
- Customer-focused mindset with ability to influence frontline team behavior.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain Australian Security NV1 clearance (for Australian sites).
