Job description

About the Role

We are representing a partner company seeking a Technical Project Manager based in New Zealand to lead the delivery of an innovative productivity hardware product. This role involves collaborating closely with teams across product, engineering, design, and operations to transform ideas and requirements into clear plans and actionable tasks. You will manage coordination across several workstreams, ensuring deadlines, dependencies, blockers, and decisions are effectively handled. The position blends Agile delivery, technical coordination, documentation, and operational follow-through in an international setting involving internal teams, vendors, and contractors. This role offers the chance to directly influence the product lifecycle from planning through launch.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize sprint activities including planning, task decomposition, prioritization, and tracking progress.
  • Convert product requirements and decisions into detailed, actionable tasks for engineering and design groups.
  • Monitor deadlines, interdependencies, obstacles, risks, and agreements among all project members.
  • Keep backlogs, project roadmaps, documentation, and task statuses up to date and accurate.
  • Record technical and product decisions, meeting minutes, requirements, and agreed follow-ups.
  • Coordinate delivery efforts between product, engineering, design, and operations teams.
  • Lead regular team meetings and ensure decisions lead to concrete execution.
  • Evaluate the impact of requirement changes on scope, timeline, and delivery.
  • Manage operational coordination with vendors, contractors, legal, finance, and other external parties.
  • Identify risks proactively and escalate issues that might threaten deadlines, quality, or outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a Technical Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Project Manager, or Product Operations Manager within a technology product company.
  • Experience embedded within product or engineering teams rather than purely agency or administrative roles.
  • Hands-on expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies and sprint management.
  • Proven track record owning projects or products from definition through to release.
  • Ability to write clear requirements, user scenarios, acceptance criteria, and delegated development/design tasks.
  • Experience juggling multiple workstreams, dependencies, and external stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Familiarity working with vendors, contractors, and operational teams.
  • Solid grasp of software development lifecycle stages including requirements, design, testing, and deployment.
  • Basic understanding of interactions among hardware, firmware, mobile, and backend components.
  • Strong problem-solving skill to convert complex or ambiguous issues into well-structured tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with confidence in moderating meetings and driving decision completion.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude willing to resolve organizational and delivery challenges independently.
  • Upper-intermediate proficiency in English enabling effective collaboration with international participants.
  • Experience with project management and documentation software such as Jira, Linear, Notion, or Confluence.
  • Prior exposure to hardware, IoT, or embedded systems products is advantageous.
  • Background in business or system analysis, quality assurance, or software engineering paired with delivery coordination experience is a plus.
  • Experience using roadmap tools, process flow diagrams, or workflow mapping systems is desirable.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment: choose to work fully remote from any location, hybrid, or office-based.
  • Provision of all necessary equipment for a comfortable and productive workspace.
  • Additional perks such as healthcare insurance (VHI), corporate sports programs, foreign language classes, and therapy sessions.
  • Five-day workweek with flexible daily start times.
