Job description
Job Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Technical Learning & Development Senior Officer to lead specialised technical training initiatives within the energy and power industry. This permanent full-time position is based in Doha, Qatar, and demands an engineering background paired with extensive experience in the energy or power sector. The individual will be responsible for managing training programmes from design to delivery, working closely with trainees, technical teams, and operational stakeholders including site visits to power plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and oversee technical training programmes and developmental roadmaps for new recruits and existing technical staff.
- Conduct and facilitate diverse training approaches such as in-house sessions, on-the-job coaching, and site-based learning, alongside preparing training materials collaboratively with technical experts.
- Supervise the full training lifecycle including scheduling, assessment, attendance monitoring, performance tracking, coaching, and facilitating trainee advancement to skilled technical roles.
- Liaise with operational units, supervisors, educational bodies, and external trainers to identify skill gaps and ensure alignment of programmes with technical and operational demands.
- Manage all operational aspects of training including budgeting, facilities, vendor coordination, logistics, travel arrangements, maintenance of training records, reporting, and controlling expenditures linked to training.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; applications lacking this qualification will not be considered.
- At least 8 years of substantial experience in learning and development or technical training, with an emphasis on the energy, power generation, utilities, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to design and establish comprehensive technical training programmes locally or nationally from inception.
- Excellent skills in technical training delivery, facilitation, coaching, effective communication, and stakeholder management with on-site and power plant engagement experience.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Arabic is a plus. Prior work experience within the GCC region and familiarity with Lotus Notes software are preferred advantages.
