Role Overview

The Identity & Integration platform team focuses on delivering dependable and cutting-edge technology solutions swiftly. With a vision of maintaining 'always on' capabilities using tomorrow’s technology at tomorrow’s pace, the team emphasizes simplicity, innovation, and security to empower staff to innovate rapidly.

The Technical Consultant position entails spearheading how ASB interfaces with partners and clients via the External API platform. This role entails leading the design and execution of integrations, especially centered on Open Banking and financial-grade APIs. Collaborating closely with engineering teams, squads, and stakeholders, the consultant offers technical leadership, pragmatic advice, and fosters a cooperative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and deployment of integrations for ASB’s External API platform.
• Provide expert technical leadership relating to Open Banking, Financial API (FAPI), integration design, and delivery processes.
• Collaborate with third-party providers and internal teams, offering guidance and consultancy.
• Convert business needs into clear, well-thought-out technical designs.
• Ensure all solutions comply with security standards, risk management, and control requirements prior to production deployment.
• Represent engineering perspectives by partnering with squads and platform teams to ensure superior service delivery.
• Offer support and influence technical decisions beyond immediate teams as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive software engineering experience with deep technical expertise.
• Proven background in solution architecture or technical architecture roles.
• Demonstrated success designing and implementing integrations at scale.
• Practical experience with Open Banking and financial-grade APIs.
• Proficient development skills in C# and .NET technologies.
• Knowledge and hands-on use of API gateways, access policies, and integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of digital certificates, mutual TLS, and secure API communication protocols.
• In-depth familiarity with authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth and OIDC.
• Experience with containerization technologies and enterprise networking.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control tools like Git.
• Effective stakeholder management and clear, confident communication skills.

Preferred Additional Experience

• Working experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on knowledge of security frameworks relevant to financial-grade APIs.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring solutions such as the ELK stack.
• Experience in Agile working environments.
