Senior Data Engineer

We have an opening for a Senior Data Engineer based in Auckland, New Zealand to join our team.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead efforts in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and engineering workflows.
• Create scalable and dependable data solutions employing contemporary data engineering methodologies.
• Identify areas where processes can be automated, simplified, or standardized for efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver appropriate data platforms.
• Incorporate software engineering and site reliability best practices to enhance data quality and system performance.
• Document and help establish data engineering standards and best practices.
• Mentor team members and foster skill development within the group.
• Drive continuous improvement in data systems, workflows, and team methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with ASB’s risk management, governance policies, and control frameworks.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of five years’ experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or managing large-scale data platforms.
• Advanced skills in SQL and Python, including code optimization and deployment in production environments.
• Proficiency in data integration, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, and contemporary data architecture designs.
• Knowledge of cloud-native services, streaming data technologies, and containerization approaches.
• Solid grasp of data structures, data modeling, and engineering fundamentals.
• Effective communication skills tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A proactive mindset emphasizing quality, innovation, and delivery outcomes.
• Awareness of data environment security, governance, and risk considerations.
