Role Overview

As a Technical Architect within one of our premier accounts focused on application upgrades, you will establish robust technical foundations essential for informed architectural decisions and the smooth execution of application updates. This role involves gaining a deep understanding of existing application ecosystems, rectifying incomplete designs, and setting precise technical baselines across multiple systems.

Collaborating closely with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and subject matter experts, you will tackle challenging technical problems and enhance the management and use of architectural knowledge. This position is hybrid, with an expected presence at CGI and client offices in Glasgow for three days each week.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and update High Level Designs (HLDs) and related technical documents across the full application landscape.
• Reconstruct technical designs where current documentation is incomplete, inconsistent, or missing.
• Collaborate with technical specialists to analyze and understand the actual state of application environments.
• Document critical aspects such as hosting, infrastructure, interfaces, integrations, dependencies, security measures, and operational characteristics.
• Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, consistent, and detailed adequately to underpin architecture governance and delivery processes.
• Identify significant architectural changes, inconsistencies, and technical risks and escalate them appropriately through architecture governance channels.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, subject matter experts, and program delivery teams.
• Maintain dependable technical baselines that facilitate informed decision-making, governance, and achievement of upgrade milestones.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Demonstrable experience in Technical Architecture within intricate application or enterprise technology environments.
• Proven expertise in creating and maintaining comprehensive technical architecture documentation, including High Level Designs.
• Skilled in reverse-engineering or reconstructing technical designs from existing systems, stakeholders’ input, and partial documentation.
• Strong grasp of application hosting and infrastructure, including the interplay between applications and their foundational technology.
• In-depth understanding of system interfaces, integrations, and technical dependencies across applications.
• Awareness of security factors relevant to both technical and application architectures.
• Knowledge of operational and support requirements as they affect technical design decisions.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with incomplete or conflicting technical data.
• High attention to detail in establishing and preserving accurate technical baselines.
• Effective stakeholder management and collaboration abilities, enabling productive interactions with architects, Technical Leads, subject matter experts, and delivery teams.
