Systems Specialist - Software, Standards, and Maintenance

Position Overview

This role offers an exciting chance for an experienced Systems Specialist focused on Software, Standards, and Maintenance to contribute to the delivery of critical aviation capabilities within a complex government framework. The specialist will support platforms including aircraft, simulators, training solutions, and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems, working closely with senior stakeholders and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed, traceable Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) related to software, maintenance, and standards for aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions, operational interfaces, contracted services, and LVC systems.
• Prepare maintenance-related FPS and documentation for a variety of aviation systems.
• Conduct research and document applicable standards across project components.
• Populate and update systems engineering databases with accurate information.
• Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) as required.
• Engage in commercial and tender evaluation tasks, including vendor requirements analysis.
• Represent the program in collaborative forums with operators, delivery agents, and stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships to identify and mitigate capability risks and complex issues.
• Compile and deliver reports and presentations to relevant committees and boards.
• Apply strategic insights to aid successful capability development and delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold an active NV1 security clearance.
• Proven analytical skills enabling the navigation of complex technical requirements.
• Exceptional skills in technical writing and development of high-quality specifications.
• Effective communication and presentation skills tailored to a variety of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated strong knowledge of software and relevant technical domains.
• Experience preparing structured, traceable technical documentation and specifications.
• Familiarity with systems engineering database utilization.
• Possession of an appropriate tertiary qualification is desirable.
• Expertise in capability development and acquisition environments is highly valued.
• Experience in aircraft acquisition projects is considered a significant advantage.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with technical, operational, commercial, and delivery teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed is preferred.

Work Details

• Location: Preferred at RAAF Base Williamtown; Canberra location may also be considered.
• Work Arrangement: Onsite, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
