Role Purpose
The Subsea Pre-commissioning Engineer will report to the Pre-commissioning Manager and become part of Saipem Qatar’s Subsea Pre-commissioning Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure technical integrity throughout all engineering stages of the project while managing estimated costs and timelines.
- Execute engineering tasks directly to guarantee compliance with methods and quality standards.
- Maintain adherence to QA/QC and HSE standards within the assigned responsibility areas.
- Report progress and issues to the Offshore Method Lead.
- Create and revise engineering schedules as per contractual requirements in consultation with the project team.
- Identify technical challenges and make necessary decisions within contractual limits.
- Develop or oversee task definitions and specifications and manage procurement of materials or services within budget.
- Approve technical designs needed for purchase or construction of client-delivered products.
- Participate in technical meetings and audits, including client technical evaluations.
- Ensure cost and schedule decisions that impact contracts are authorized by relevant project leads and communicated appropriately.
- Report problems related to other engineering sectors to supervisors and project managers.
- Conduct engineering calculations and verification for methodologies to be implemented.
- Supervise and verify methodological documentation and summarize key activities and critical blockers in manuals.
- Provide comprehensive operational data, reports, manuals, and drawings to vessel operation personnel.
- Support offshore and yard activities as required, potentially serving as a field engineer during vessel operation campaigns.
- Verify equipment and material compliance and readiness.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Offshore, or Pipeline Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Minimum eight years in offshore subsea pipeline pre-commissioning, including at least three years in a supervisory position.
- Languages: Proficient in English with strong communication abilities.
Technical Knowledge
- Experience with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
- Familiarity with company policies, procedures, and project management methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of standards such as DNV-ST-F101, API, and other relevant international codes.
- Solid understanding of pre-commissioning equipment including suction pumps, flooding pumps, chemical injection units, compressors, and air dryers.
- Proven team management skills, capable of leading teams exceeding 30 personnel during pre-commissioning phases.
- Preference given to candidates experienced with QE LNG project specs and offshore operations.
IT Competencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Project.
