Role Purpose

The Instrumentation Engineer’s role involves the design, validation, and implementation of plant instrumentation systems. The focus is on optimizing technical performance and cost-efficiency while complying with international regulations and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute technical tasks as assigned by the Instrumentation Discipline Lead, including design, verification, layout planning, installation drawings, material specification, validation, and testing of process measurement sensors, actuators, installation components, and safety elements.
  • Collaborate and interface with other project specialists and designers to coordinate tasks.
  • Manage technical activities both internal and external to the company including subcontracted engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements throughout all activities.
  • Support technology development and commercial efforts, including feasibility studies and bidding phases.
  • Prepare instrumentation element quantities for cost and installation estimates, assist in defining man-hours and cost projections.
  • Review client technical documentation and ensure deliverables meet requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, data sheets, installation drawings, bills of quantities (BOQs), and material takeoffs (MTOs) for instrumentation elements.
  • Participate in Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) mechanization and validate vendor sizing calculations for control and safety valves as well as measurement devices.
  • Coordinate and ensure 3D modeling design activities for instrumentation.
  • Engage in Factory Acceptance Tests (F.A.T.) and vendor workshops.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases including on-site activities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electronics, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong technical expertise in process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement devices; control valves; and safety valves.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards such as ISA, IEC, API, ASME, and hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx).
  • Proficient with instrumentation design software like SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), Aveva Engineering, or equivalent, and sizing software like Conval.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams including piping, process, and electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English at B2/C1 level.
  • Capable of working in diverse multinational and multicultural teams efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, solutions-oriented, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
