Job Purpose and Responsibilities

Serving under the Fabrication Manager within the COMP3 project and Fabrication Department, the Structural Superintendent's role involves organizing, directing, and supervising erection activities whether executed by subcontractors or directly hired personnel. Essential coordination spans interfaces with production superintendents, engineering, methods, and quality control disciplines. Responsibilities include overseeing sub-assembly integration, final product completion, Mechanical Completion, and preparation phases for load out, sea transport, offshore hook-up, and installation on foundations for both onshore and offshore projects.

Key Tasks

  • Champion safety protocols and environmental safeguards, guaranteeing compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure quality and contractual demands of the project are met satisfactorily.
  • Develop and adhere to time schedules within allocated time frames for assigned scopes.
  • Coordinate and manage erection activities directly when applicable, emphasizing cost efficiency and operational accuracy.
  • Oversee supporting services like scaffolding, lifting, and handling operations.
  • Ensure welding and non-destructive testing are accomplished and released before painting to optimize costs.
  • Synchronize all disciplines involved up to Mechanical Completion, streamlining overlapping workflows.
  • Release mechanically completed systems to the Commissioning unit according to the planned sequence.
  • Oversee load out procedures ensuring proper execution.
  • Provide progress updates explaining deviations from plans, proposing corrective actions or seeking directives as required; monitor efficiency and productivity parameters.
  • Maintain strict discipline workflow, liaising with project organizations and clients both at home office and site/yard levels.
  • Assist in resolving technical challenges encountered during execution.
  • Account accurately for work quantities, including tracking man-hours and preliminary cost estimates when scope changes occur.
  • Ensure yield and duration targets established during project setup are attained.
  • Record and maintain execution data—man-hours, equipment, and materials usage—using approved project tools throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supervise and monitor performed works, subcontracted or direct hire; coordinate workforce and resources, flagging needs or surpluses.
  • Plan and monitor activities of vendors or specialized contractors onsite.
  • Handle both technical and administrative documentation meticulously.
  • Interface with asset management teams for equipment upkeep to ensure operational readiness.
  • Contribute suggestions for continuous improvement concerning methodologies, tools, and material management.

Candidate Profile

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least five years of experience in EPC fabrication environments.
  • Proficiency in English language is mandatory.
