Senior Structural Engineer - Offshore

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance to accepted engineering standards, design practices, regulatory norms, and client specifications by all team members.
• Drive standardization efforts related to equipment specifications, technical drawings, and documentation templates.
• Enhance comprehension of applicable technical knowledge, legal mandates, and client requirements when feasible and lawful.
• Apply local and international standards to maintain technical excellence.
• Lead quality assurance activities including reviews, peer assessments, and integration of feedback.
• Provide technical oversight to Offshore Structural designers and draftsmen engaged in projects.
• Prepare and review specifications and datasheets.
• Conduct bid evaluations and review vendor documentation for approvals.
• Oversee detailed design outputs such as drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports, ensuring adherence to verification processes.
• Implement innovative techniques and technologies to manage out-of-sequence working scenarios effectively.
• Assist Lead Engineer in quality monitoring, quality checks, recommending improvements, and taking necessary actions.
• Support project teams with documentation including proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and scheduling.
• Manage Offshore Structural design activities and associated design modifications within set budget and timeline constraints.
• Organize and participate in weekly Offshore Structural meetings, generate progress reports, and comply with review protocols.
• Review and advise on layouts and site preparation during bid evaluations to verify technical competence and scope conformance.
• Execute verifications, studies, and detailed design applying best engineering practices focused on cost-efficiency, constructability, operational simplicity, maintainability, and HSSE compliance.
• Assess technical challenges, develop alternative solutions considering pros and cons, and communicate recommendations via project documents such as technical queries and deviations.
• Produce final comprehensive documentation incorporating all pertinent information aiming for client approval.

Quality Assurance

• Adhere strictly to the protocols and guidelines defined by the Quality Assurance systems.

Safety Responsibilities

• Maintain personal safety by following safe work practices and OH&S procedures.
• Encourage awareness of health, safety, and environmental considerations among colleagues.

Industry Experience

• Extensive experience in conceptual studies, FEED, and detailed design of substructures, decks, and bridges.
• Prior involvement in Oil and Gas sector projects both green-field and brown-field.
• Availability to participate in offshore site surveys is required.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Mandatory engineering accreditation from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME); candidates without accreditation must commit to attaining it during probation.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification or pursuit thereof is considered advantageous.

Technical Proficiency

• Expertise in engineering software including StaadPro, SAP2000, Etabs, Safe, AutoCAD, and SACS.
