Position Overview
The Steward role at W Hotels involves operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment and tools used within the kitchen environment, ensuring all areas and utensils are hygienically cleaned and sanitized to uphold food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Use equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing area, and trash compactors efficiently.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen and storage rooms, including tables, knives, tools, and other equipment.
- Receive food deliveries, handle perishables appropriately, and ensure proper stock rotation.
- Store clean wares in designated areas following cleaning and sanitization.
- Utilize a three-compartment sink with detergents and sanitizers to wash dishes thoroughly.
- Inspect, stack, and manage cleaned items, returning those that require additional cleaning for re-scrubbing and washing.
- Rinse racked items with hot water to remove any food residues effectively.
- Sort, soak, wash, and if necessary, re-wash silverware.
- Break down and clean dirty bus tubs regularly.
- Manage waste by emptying and maintaining trashcans and dumpster area, properly disposing of glass and recyclable materials.
- Clean and mop all assigned department areas, ensuring consistent hygiene.
- Break down cardboard and separate recyclables accordingly.
- Follow company safety, security policies, and report any hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Communicate professionally and foster cooperative relationships with colleagues to support team goals.
- Adhere strictly to quality standards and any other tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Physically handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform activities requiring standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- No formal high school education or GED is required.
- No prior related or supervisory work experience is necessary.
- No licenses or certifications mandated for this role.
