Role Overview
The Kitchen Porter at Soho House plays a crucial part in maintaining kitchen operations by ensuring all kitchenware—pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and glassware—are cleaned and maintained effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, rinse, and sanitise all kitchen items in accordance with daily operational demands.
- Use commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment safely and as per manufacturer instructions.
- Keep kitchen workspaces and storage areas clean and well-organised.
- Properly handle kitchen waste disposal, keeping bins emptied and areas tidy during shifts.
- Follow all Food Safety and Health & Safety policies, including HACCP standards compliant with UK regulations.
- Adhere strictly to cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the kitchen team by replenishing stock, reporting shortages, and supporting during busy periods.
- Handle kitchen tools and equipment carefully to avoid damage and maintain inventory.
- Restock supplies such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning products as necessary.
- Safely manage cleaning chemicals and related equipment.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably up to two years' experience in a fast-paced, prestigious venue environment.
- Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or janitorial roles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Detail-oriented with the capability to work independently.
- Dependable, discrete, and demonstrates a professional manner.
- Willingness to work any shifts including weekends and public holidays.
- Accepts feedback positively to enhance member satisfaction.
- Ability to multitask in a high-demand setting.
- Comprehends and follows both verbal and written instructions well.
