Job Summary

The Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in front-of-house areas including tables, counters, floors, windows, and beverage stations to enhance guest satisfaction and uphold health standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure tables are cleared, bussed, and cleaned promptly; maintain clean and swept floors especially during peak hours and prep areas before service begins.
• Adhere to safety protocols while transporting dishes and utensils using trays, bus tubs, or carts from front-of-house to kitchen.
• Perform dishwashing duties manually or using dishwashing equipment, ensuring full sanitation of all items including glasses, pots, and cooking tools.
• Maintain cleanliness of display equipment and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation requirements during service hours.
• Assist with receiving heavy deliveries from the dock and transport items safely to storage areas, following proper lifting techniques.
• Follow HACCP standards by properly presenting food, controlling portions, and maintaining serving temperatures.
• Consistently demonstrate personal commitment to safety for oneself and others.
• Comply with company safety policies such as wearing medium weight cut gloves when handling sharp tools, oven mitts for hot items, slip-resistant shoes, and use of safe lifting methods.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support smooth operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a high-traffic environment involving handling deliveries and inventory management is preferred.
• Familiarity with FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, safety practices, and HACCP training is highly desirable.
• Experience with pallet breakdown is an advantage.
• Ability to work varied full-time schedules including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wage starting at $22.50 with incremental pay raises of 50 cents every six months.

Location and Schedule

The position is located onsite at United Lounges, O'Hare Chicago Airport. The schedule is full-time, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with days varying and required working on weekends and holidays. Further details will be shared in the interview.
