About the Role
The AI Agents and Experience team is dedicated to transforming cutting-edge model capabilities into practical, trustworthy product features that serve creators, businesses, and their audiences. As a Staff Software Engineer in AI at Linktree, you will collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and platform engineers to develop AI-driven agents and experiences that empower users to create, customize, automate, and expand their presence via one platform.
This position focuses on building and shipping robust AI products. It requires moving rapidly from concept through prototype to production, learning from real-world application, and strengthening products through comprehensive evaluation, monitoring, safety measures, and sound product judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and launch AI-powered features targeted at both creators and visitors, managing the process end-to-end from prototype to live product.
- Design complex multi-agent workflows incorporating prompting, tool integration, data retrieval, memory/state management, orchestration, and human-in-the-loop controls where necessary.
- Create evaluation frameworks, regression tests, and quality metrics to ensure systematic and purposeful AI quality improvements.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, data, and trust teams to convert ambiguous user challenges into straightforward, valuable experiences.
- Enhance system latency, reliability, cost-efficiency, and safety to ensure scalable, dependable AI functionalities.
- Leverage production feedback, support issues, and user behavior data to fine-tune models, prompts, policies, and overall product design.
Candidate Profile
- Strong foundation in software engineering with proven success deploying complete production systems.
- Direct experience developing products powered by large language models, AI agents, chat interfaces, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows, or comparable AI experiences.
- Familiarity with creating evaluation suites for assessing the quality of AI output.
- Exceptional product intuition: ability to pinpoint core user problems, devise simple solutions, and balance trade-offs regarding effort, scope, and quality.
- Capability to regularly evaluate trade-offs and preference for maintaining simple system architecture.
- Good judgment related to AI system safety, trust, privacy, abuse prevention, and failure modes.
- Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams and clear explanation of decision trade-offs.
Compensation and Benefits
Linktree offers a comprehensive compensation package including salary, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $240,000 to $250,000, with actual offers varying based on factors like location, experience, skills, and role responsibilities.
